Paws in the Park
Many, many Paws in the Park at yesterday’s doggy event in Rouken Glen Park. I confess I paid more attention to cuddles than photos but I hope you like this lot. It was incredibly hard not to take some of the puppies home.

Exhibition Launch (Part 2)
Here’s what happened at the launch of my exhibition! Brilliant video by Woods Noble Media (if you excuse the fact I’m in it). The exhibition run has been extended so my pictures will now be decorating the walls of Curlers Rest until the 14th August.
You can see what happened behind the scenes during the set up of my exhibition launch in this video.

Curlers Rest Launch
I think I’ve finally recovered from my exhibition launch at Curlers Rest. Think. Maybe. Probably. Anyway, I’ve recovered enough to say a wee bit more about it.
Approximately 60 people attended the launch and I was bowled over by everyone’s kind words and support. I like to think it wasn’t just the bubbly and great food that prompted their enthusiasm! I have 15 photos on display until the end of July – a mix of puffins, meerkats, Scottish weather and the beauty of, among other things, The Enchanted Forest.
It’s my first public exhibition (I exhibited some of my work in BBC Scotland shortly before I left last year) and it was pretty nerve-wracking for more reasons than I dare to bore you with. Happily, it was hailed a success. I had fantastic help from friends on the day (Alison Hutcheson, Rob Beer and Nick Storey), it was an excuse to buy a new frock (and matching handbag – no, I won’t stop talking about it), it’s been featured on three great websites (Glasgow Podcart, Folio 14 and VisitScotland), there’s a press story in the works, many lovely people on Twitter have told their followers about it again and again (thanks to whoever started the #excitedforjulie hashtag – it made me laugh!), and I sold a few prints on the night.
As hostess, it was hard to take photos of the event but, as you can see above, I managed a few at the end of the night (one of my friends said that seeing me behind the camera was the most relaxed I’d been all night). Thanks to Sara Christie for taking the pictures of me, and Ali for the one of me and Patricia Elliot. The event was filmed by Woods Noble Media and I’ll share the videos shortly.
In the meantime, please allow me to share some of the lovely comments from Twitter folk who came along to the launch:

Scottish Women in Business Photos
I photographed April’s Scottish Women in Business meeting at Tapela in Glasgow. I learned that trying to eat, network, gossip, listen and take photographs at the same time is nigh on impossible. Fun night though, as ever.

Carrie Mac at Apple Store
Carrie Mac celebrated her 24th birthday with a performance at the Apple Store in Glasgow, to promote her upcoming single “Till I See You Again”. Carrie spent her last birthday playing in a wee venue in her home town of Edinburgh; this year she faced an adoring crowd and went home with armfuls of cards, presents and cakes!

So Much To Say…
… and so little time and energy! Sorry for lack of updates, folks, but I’ve been a tad busy. I’ve got plenty of blogs brewing that have yet to make their way onto the screen but I thought I’d just give you a quick summary and point you in the direction of a few new photos.
Today was spent cuddling and photographing dogs. In fact, I met and photo’d more than 30 of ‘em at the Glasgow Vet School Rodeo. Amazing event and great fun, despite a biting wind. I even popped into the reptile tent and was talked into holding a snake. I survived but I think I prefer them through a very long lens. I’ll have all the doggy photos online soon but, for now, you can check out my pictures from last year’s Rodeo here, featuring dogs, a lamb, sheep, a calf, ferrets, birds of prey and duck herding.
Puffins! I’ve put a few of my new puffin photos online. Lots more to come. They are ADORABLE.
Talking of adorable, have you ever seen a baby meerkat? Well, please step this way and prepare to squeal. I photo’d a baby and three adult meerkats at St. Andrews Aquarium last week. Lots to tell about that so please watch this space.
And now for something completely different. Here are my X Factor Live Tour Photos featuring One Direction, Matt Cardle, Rebecca Ferguson, Cher Lloyd, Paije Richardson, Katie Waissel, Aiden Grimshaw and the legendary Wagner.
On top of all of that, I’ve walked on fire (I raised over £400 for OneKind!), done a really successful headshot shoot, taken some pictures of a great Quarriers project, done my first wedding (as second shooter for the fabulous One Big Picture Photography), picked up some great tips at the Photovision Roadshow, and managed an ounce of a social life at Edinburgh’s Twestival. I’ll tell you more about some of them soon.
Now, if you’ll excuse me, I need to go and lie down

Twisted Firewalker
I’m going to walk on fire. It’s just a small step away from walking on water although that may be a literal step if it goes wrong on the day. It’s all happening on the 27th March, on the hallowed turf of Hampden Park, a short crawl from home and A&E. I have every eventuality covered.
The firewalk is to raise money for OneKind (formerly Advocates for Animals), a brilliant animal charity. Visit www.onekind.org to find out more about them and have a look at their clever film trailer hoax. It stars Angus MacInnes, who you may recognise from Star Wars. I recognised him as Sonny from River City but that says more about me than him.
OneKind’s video excited thousands of sci-fi fans across the world and went on to win a Movieviral award. Please do watch it.
I photographed OneKind’s first firewalk last year and was hugely impressed by the staff, the organisation, and the preparation for the firewalkers. I didn’t take much persuasion when the team asked me take part this year.
I’ll tell you all about it once I’ve recovered. In the meantime, feel free to donate a little bit of money to help the charity’s great work
Thank you!
