I haven’t done any photoshoots during lockdown. I have barely been outside except to exercise, collect supermarket orders, or help with wildlife rescues (I’m a volunteer animal chauffeur for Hessilhead Wildlife Rescue), and taking my camera anywhere didn’t feel right.
But Scotland’s restrictions eased a little last week and one famous southside clan asked if I’d photograph them at home. I didn’t hesitate to say yes. Happily, I still remember how to take photos.
As per the guidelines, we stayed outdoors but I must admit I did break social distancing rules (with much caution) and they were fine with that.
So let me introduce you to the swans and cygnets of Queen’s Park in the south side of Glasgow. The wee ones are 3-4 weeks old and they were very accommodating to me and my camera. I am a bit of an animal whisperer and they knew they were safe with me. They did refuse to all look at the lens at the same time but I’m used to that with humans at weddings.
Oh and you’ll notice a few of their friends gatecrashed the shoot. They wisely didn’t come near the royal wildfowl.
Full disclosure: these clients haven’t signed consent forms for GDPR but they barely spoke to me at their photoshoot, nor have they paid me, so their photos are going to appear everywhere without their permission ;)

PS On a sensible note, my cameras and I are officially staying at home for a while yet. I’m sure it’ll be safe to return to work soon but, for now, I’m taking bookings for future shoots and selling gift vouchers. Please call or email if you have any questions.
